SFPUC - Annual Reports Achieving More Together | Page 8

07 | 08 Annual Report for the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2015 WE HAVE THE POWER We own and operate the Hetch Hetchy Power System, our clean energy backbone and the source of power for all of San Francisco’s municipal facilities, which include streetlights, schools, hospitals, SFO, Muni, police, fire and more. This year, we accomplished a major milestone with the first kilowatt hours of clean, Hetch Hetchy energy delivered to residents in The Shipyard. We have increased generation of clean power while reducing energy consumption through our efficiency projects, resulting in 44,450 tons of carbon reduction or the equivalent of 34,310 cars taken off the road. Power Highlights: • LED Streetlight Upgrades: Efficient, cost-effective LEDs are now illuminating parts of our City. We will be converting over 18,000 streetlights to LEDs. Like all of our city-owned streetlights, they’re powered by 100% Hetch Hetchy hydroelectric energy. • Energy Efficiency: We completed seven energy efficiency projects in city-owned buildings, like City Hall, the oldest building in the US to receive LEED Platinum certification. This saves us energy and money. • Solar Arrays: We’ve installed three new municipal solar arrays at North Beach Public Library, Thurgood Marshall High School and City Hall, bringing the total to 19 arrays for the City. • GoSolarSF: We offer incentives for you to install solar on your residence or commercial building. Join existing participants in lowering your electric bill while reducing air pollution. BE A SUSTAINABILITY SUPERHERO BY ENROLLING IN OUR CleanPowerSF PROGRAM TODAY. Cleaner energy! It’s that simple. CleanPowerSF will reduce your carbon footprint and the City’s greenhouse gas emissions. CleanPowerSF will offer cost-competitive, cleaner energy alternatives. CleanPowerSF is not-forprofit, so your dollars will be reinvested locally in energy efficiency programs and new renewable energy facilities. Enroll today at cleanpowersf.org
