Color, brilliant color, and then it all goes black. All I see is my life before my eyes and it is all my best moments. All those hilarious crazy times with my friends, curling Tasha’s hair while watching llamas with hats. All of my friends looking so beautiful on Prom, dancing up a storm and enjoying life. Induction into National Honor Society, sitting proudly on the stage in the Chorus robes, smiling out at the crowd, reading my speech. These are the moments I will remember forever and always. And then there is the moments I could forget, every single shot that I had to take playing out before my eyes, every painful time wanting it to be done, wishing for relief that will shortly come. Then it morphs into one of my favorite memories, the day I told Emily I was coming back to Iowa.
I plopped down into the chair that was seated in front of my computer, it was late April, and my freshman year of high school was almost over, my sister would be graduating soon, and I was so excited for the next year, when I would be reunited with my old buddies, speaking of which, I really need to tell Emily so that she knows and doesn’t find out from someone else. I get on the internet and check my email for any emails from Emily, we have kept in touch throughout the years. I see her email in my inbox and get excited, and then I read the subject line and immediately open it, freaking out because what I was just thinking about is in the subject line, me and my mom were just talking about how we need to talk to Emily and tell her and the subject line is screaming at me to tell her. “ARE YOU COMING BACK?????????” says the subject line, and I know that I have to tell her now, I open the email and the words on the email really hit home to me. I realize that I have to talk to her and tell her. “MOM!!” I yell through the house. She comes into the room and reads the email, “Hey Liz, there is a rumor going around school that you are coming
back. I decided to ask you before I got my hopes up so ARE YOU? Thank
You.
TTYL TFFL,
Em”
She signed it with our favorite thing to sign with, TTYL TFFL, Talk to you later, true friend for life, little did she know, she was going to be talking to me sooner than she thought and more than she thought soon. I chatted with her on IM, setting up the video chat that we were going to have, then Emily’s face pops up on the screen, smiling at me in her M*A*S*H* t-shirt from the play they did.
