providing feedback to the design and utility. Our graphic designers worked tirelessly in between full time jobs and school to illustrate our fish. They focused on every bit of detail to highlight the most defining features so as to provide the easiest recognition once in the water.

We presented the app to our scientific fish community at the 68th Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute conference in Panama this past November, and the app was well received. We were thrilled to find students and educators alike sharing in our vision and excitement about using technology to complement how we teach fish identification. The app is freely available for iPads on the app store and you can find it by searching for “Artedi” or visiting the website at www.artediapp.com.

Although our careers are just beginning, we are dedicated to Isla Mar and are ready to serve our island of Puerto Rico and students from all over the world. We are eager to continue educating, creating and hopefully inspiring the next generation of scientists.
