Colombia is a land of magical realism and a

land of contrasts.

When people hear about Colombia, more often than not, the things that come to mind are not its rich environment, diverse culture or unique biodiversity. Instead, what comes to mind are usually images of a past tainted by narcos and political corruption. In this issue, collaborators highlight Colombia, the beautiful; the home to almost 10% of the planet's living biodiversity (crazy, right?!) the land with most orchid species, most bird species, and second in butterflies; a land surrounded by two oceans, and one of the richest in aquatic resources. Alas, erosion, climate change, and industrialization have put all of these at risk in the past few years. Enjoy the journey through this beautiful land, learn about getting there and not wanting to leave, and how you can help preserve this

paradise on earth. Don’t take it from me though.

Visit Colombia! Its beautiful people, a smooth cup of

coffee, and vallenato music eagerly wait for you.
