The following section is made up of essays were written by students across Sevenoaks school for the Young Marine Biologists ’ Ocean Decade Writing Challenge ( held by the Marine Biological Association ). The challenge prompted young people to write an original essay on the theme ‘ a decade in the ocean ’, whether that be centred around changes in science affecting the ocean in the next ten years , their relationship with the ocean , or how we can protect and use the ocean .
It is ever so vital that we protect our oceans , a source of so much life and many resources . Catalyst is proud to showcase these seven essays detailing humanity ’ s relationship with the ocean , exploring topics from floating cities to drone technology .
