Sevenoaks Catalyst Magazine - Science and Society Issue 3 - Lent term 2021 | Page 2

Before We

Begin … A word from the Heads of

Catalyst .
The world has watched science and public policy combine and clash on an unprecedented scale during the COVID-19 pandemic . At Catalyst , we have realised that considering the effects and applications enabled are imperative in evaluating the findings and knowledge provided by science . Therefore , we decided our third edition should be centred around the relationship between science and society . With a whole host of Lower Sixth joining in the past term , virtual interviews , a new section highlighting student essays , and a partnership with the student organisation FootprintFacts , the making of this issue has been hectic but fulfilling . We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed creating it .
Thank you to FootprintFacts , an informative website where you can calculate your carbon footprint and find education resources on climate change , for providing Catalyst with an alternative outlet for our content .
Also , a big thank you to Sachi Gwalani for administration and correspondence work , and for generally being the most helpful member of the Catalyst team !
