The diet ' s reasoning is that

human
body
is
genetically mismatched to
the
modern
diet
that
emerged
with
farming
practices — an idea known
as
the
discordance
hypothesis . Eaton argued
that
technology
and
agriculture developed too
rapidly ,
and
human
evolution
and
human
adaptation couldn ’ t keep
up .
The theory states that food groups such as trans-fats , like margarine , cannot be safely processed by the human body . Trans-fats and many other foods that weren ’ t sold in markets 100 years ago have been thought to be a contributing factor to the prevalence of obesity , diabetes , and heart disease today . There are benefits and disadvantages to the Paleo diet . Benefits include weight loss , better blood pressure control , improved glycemic control , and a significant decrease in risk of cardiovascular disease . However , as more research and trials are done , scientists are beginning to believe the Paleo diet is the result of the oversimplification of human evolution and the beginnings of civilization .
Most humans would ’ ve eaten what was available to them , with no concern to a balanced diet . Diets would ’ ve varied across the globe depending on the geography , climate , and genetic variation . Even the meat we consume has changed over time , from our own doing .
