With the science and technology now at the point of viability , the essential decision is where to build the first hyperloop . There are thousands of options between different cities in different countries but the leading company , Hyperloop Transportation Technologies , is currently on track to open the first hyperloop between Dubai and Abu Dhabi in 2022 . Other companies such as Virgin Hyperloop One are still in the lengthy process of choosing the most economically prosperous route and considering the projections for future trade and commuting between any two places to make sure the route will not become obsolete . This is paramount as there is a high initial investment cost and the route will still need to be profitable for decades after it is completed .
Looking forwards , this space age concept manipulating simple physical principles is at the verge of becoming a reality . The developments this fast and convenient transport will allow society to achieve are beyond our imaginations ; it will undoubtedly revolutionise the world . Will it be possible to build these megastructures in densely populated countries such as the UK , and at what cost ?
