Sevenoaks 26: IB Art Exhibition | Page 6

This body of work reflects how my relationship with art has changed over time. What began as a hobby gradually transformed into a space of confidence, where I feel grounded and able to express ideas honestly. Studying IB Art pushed me far beyond what felt comfortable, taught me to trust my ability, and helped me to see art as a way of understanding how I think and respond to the world.
I have always been drawn to realism and detail. I enjoy the focus and patience required to create work that feels alive, particularly through portraiture and studies of natural forms. Looking closely, slowing down and committing to detail is central to how I work – allowing me to explore presence, emotion and subtle shifts within an image.
This exhibition brings together work that explores the space between stillness and motion. Some pieces capture moments of quiet stillness, while others suggest movement – physical, emotional, gesture or form. Often it is the tension between the two that interests me most: the movement involved in creating stillness, and the stillness that can exist within motion.
I have deliberately explored unfamiliar approaches, including abstraction, colour and new materials. Letting go of precision and control challenged me, but transformed my perspective on art and on my own abilities. The reward came from the process itself – I learned to take risks, trust my intuition and see differently. My practice is constantly evolving. Rather than following a fixed method, I work instinctively, responding to each piece as it develops.
This body of work reflects technical growth and personal development, shaped by an incredible environment that encourages experimentation, reflection and boundless creativity.
