My pieces reflect my evolving artistic journey – an exploration of memory and identity through mixed media . Studying at Sevenoaks pushed me to experiment , moving beyond my comfort zone to discover new ways of seeing and creating . I had never worked with etching or ceramics before but embracing them helped me develop a deeper connection between process and concept . My work includes oil , etching , collage , clay and digital manipulation , all capturing different aspects of my experience . The IB course gave me the freedom to explore a range of mediums , which has helped me gain a stronger understanding of artistic techniques .
After constantly creating and reflecting , I ’ ve realised I feel the most artistic freedom when working with paint , especially oil paint , because it allows me to explore both the human form and colour . Over time , I ’ ve moved from structured etchings and collages to large-scale paintings that use colour to build form . My style has progressed alongside my learning , shifting from smaller pieces to bigger ones , giving me the space to explore how scale affects the viewer ’ s impact .
Recurring themes in my work include the tension between interior and exterior worlds , the interplay of structure and decay , and the inevitable passage of time . I try to infuse my pieces with my emotions and thoughts , making them an extension of myself and how I feel in the moment . Chance and imperfection play a huge role in my process : paint dripping , paper tearing , layers forming naturally . These unpredictable moments turn what might seem like mistakes into essential marks of the process itself .
