My focus on water , light and space and the approach to landscape perfectly represents my extensive interest in the subject of marine biology . The specific area that has interested me is the effect that natural light can have on the water . I love looking at the shape of water and how it moves . I have found that attempting to convey mood through light and surface is somewhat facilitated as a result of the fact that I have a very personal response to the landscapes . I wanted to explore water , and to convey a sense of serenity , wonderment and respect for the beauty of the landscapes of nature . There is a method in which I have been able to create more than one perspective to view the artworks from . I chose to use oil paints to create a blurred and dusty effect . Therefore , when looked at closely , the aspects of the artworks are undefined with a slight lack of detail . However , when one steps back and views the artworks , they – especially the oil paintings – resemble the photos that I took . This is exactly the effect I intended . In this way , the audience can have either one of these perspectives , or both .
