INTERNATIONAL MONSTER EXCHANGE PROJECT
This Fall, as a part of our‘ Body Parts’ Unit, Grade 1 SEV English students took part in our annual Monster Exchange Project. Our students partnered with a group of Grade 1 students from the Village School in California, U. S. A. After learning vocabulary about body parts and how to describe them, students created monsters in groups of three and used their newly acquired language skills to describe these monsters. We will send these pictures and descriptions to our friends in the United States whose teachers will read the descriptions to them and they will recreate the monsters. We will see how good our descriptions were by looking at the redrawn monsters. Through projects like that, students get a chance to use their English skills to communicate with other children around the world.
