SWAP SHOP AND BOARD GAMES
The projects being showcased are‘ Swap Shop’ and‘ Board Games.’ In Swap Shop, the students were required to create posters for an event that they were to plan and set up themselves, a lunchtime Swap Shop where they could trade gently loved items for new-to-you items from a friend. Fifth graders finished second term by creating their own board games. They used their cumulative English skills learned through the year plus their ability and obligation vocabulary to write the instructions and rules for their game. They had fun exchanging their games with each other and playing them. The intention of the projects was to build fluency, as well as to practice the Present Perfect form and modal verbs in English.

‘ We wanted to swap to take care of our environment. We must realize that it is our responsibility. I swapped my ping-pong ball for a book, and then the book for slime! It was pretty cool
