Why Babies Cry

I ’ m Uncomfortable or Hurting
Your baby may cry if they have gas pain or discomfort due to sensitivity to a food you ate . Some babies do not like their diaper to be wet or soiled . They may cry because it is too hot or cold , or something else is uncomfortable . These are some ways to try and solve the problem and get baby comfortable :
• Changing diaper or position .
• Undressing them .
• Cycling legs to help move gas through .
• Breastfeeding or sucking .
• Holding , swaddling or skin-to-skin contact .
• Massage , touch or burping .
• Using motion such as swaying , bouncing or rocking .
• Taking a walk or drive .
• Going outside ( change the surroundings ).
It ’ s All Too Much
Interaction with people is essential to baby ’ s development . Talking to them , responding to them , singing to them , reading books and play are all beneficial . A mobile over the crib and other visual stimulation keeps the brain connections growing . However , being in the world is a big adjustment . Your baby may get overwhelmed at times . Babies might look away from someone who is talking to them or start to cry after being content . This may be your baby ’ s way of letting you know it is time for a break . If you are in a setting with lots of people or noise , step away and work to calm your baby in a quiet space .
