Growing up, my Dad always enjoyed watching glass blower exhibits. It really is an interesting thing to watch. The heat that glass has to go through to become what is seen as a show piece is unbelievable. Recently during my study time, the Lord showed me something I find very important to how I perceive the trials of life.
The 1st stage of heat is around 2400*F. This is where the glass appears almost white & the heat will allow any bubbles to rise to the surface. Then the next stage is to allow the glass to be “workable”. The glassmith uses many tools during this time to begin to shape & mold this white hot mass into something that will eventually be usable & beautiful. Glassblowing is done in temps between 1600-1900*F. This is where the glassblower uses a long pipe called a blowpipe to literally breathe into the hot, molten glass and shape it. The final stage, called annealing, is to slowly cool the glass & to keep the glass from cracking from stress.

So are the trials & tests in our lives. Some trials seem harder than others & a lot of times they can be painful. But if we see our Father as our “glassblower” & see that He is allowing us to go through different kinds of “fiery” trials to shape us & help us grow into His beautiful artwork. He is the glass blower that gently breathes into us His very breath to mold us. See a glassblower doesn’t rush his work. He doesn’t work “on production”. It’s a slow process & he takes great care in forming the glass. So does our Father care for us. He takes His time in growing us & shaping us for His glory. Sometimes all we see is a white, hot, burning mass but trust that He sees the beauty in the finished product. So next time it seems you’re going through something difficult & painful & you wonder where He is, remember He is right there, taking great care of you, taking time to make you His beautiful artwork.
