Paul wrote in Romans 8:1 that “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (NIV). He didn’t say that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ that don’t have a past. He said that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts. Do you know why? It is because the blood of Jesus is sufficient. It is what redeems our past and transforms it into a testimony. When something is redeemed it is not destroyed. When something is redeemed it is purchased or exchanged. Jesus purchased our past and exchanged it for His glory. It is now His. In place of our dirty, shameful past, He has given us a testimony of His handiwork. Don’t allow the enemy to steal that gift from you. Use it for God’s glory! Brandish it as a mighty weapon that defeats the lies of the enemy. Use it as a balm of healing for others who are broken and hurting just as you once were. Rejoice knowing that you are God’s, redeemed for a purpose, no more condemned but instead, victorious.
