tied by first day April 19, 1930, Washington machine slogan
cancel. Proper violet map and red circular flight cachets, green
Lakehurst receiver all on front. Very fine, lightly rounded

Attractive cover franked with #581 1¢ green perf 10 tied with
4/15/25 Philadelphia machine cancel with ½¢ Postage Due
below tied with double-ring magenta ‘APRIL 15, 1925,
PHILADELPHIA, PA.,’ cancel. This is one of a number of
covers prepared by the famous First Day Cover pioneer dealer
Philip H. Ward, Jr. It is the earliest known use and considered
to be the First Day. The Scott issue date 4/13 is misleading as
the stamps were not to be sold to the public. The cover has
light hinge marks at bottom, otherwise very fine. 2009 Scott
