It also has a wide variety of industrial uses , including the production of metals and plastics . Oxide compounds are used in many processes so , in many applications , O 2 measurements are key to process control , safety , and efficiency .
While O 2 is not harmful to the environment , O 2 emissions may need to be monitored as part of a continuous emissions monitoring system .
