Secondary Partnerships: Valence School

We enjoy a close relationship with Valence School, which educates children and young people who have physical disabilities and complex medical needs.
Currently, 15 Sevenoaks students volunteer at Valence on a weekly basis, providing classroom support, enabling students at both schools to develop their confidence and communication skills, as well as have a lot of fun! Sevenoaks students have also provided specific workshops onsite at Valence, for example, a concert which allowed students studying music to attend a live performance as part of their exam courses, as well as drama workshops and a six-week block of inclusive basketball sessions.
Valence students regularly visit Sevenoaks for competitions and workshops in art, science and sport. This year, a Sevenoaks Technology teacher has made weekly visits to support Valence students to complete their GCSE courses.
“ Seeing the joy and excitement in the students when we play games especially in PE has had a big impact on me. I feel very glad that the students are having fun, and it’ s nice to know that I am helping out in a very positive way.” Alex, Sevenoaks student
“ It has made me realise that working with children with disabilities requires versatility and compassion.” Alice, Sevenoaks student
