Primary Partnerships: STEAM Week 2025

Around 2500 local primary schoolchildren enjoyed a variety of science workshops led by Sevenoaks staff and students in the school’ s Science & Technology Centre.
Audiences were captivated by talks delivered by external speakers including bumblebee specialist Professor Dave Goulson, astrobiologist Dr Louisa Preston, buckyball expert Dr Jonathan Hare, climate attribution scientist Dr Fraser Lott and cardiac-imaging consultant Dr Haotian Gu. The Royal Institution took to the stage in the Pamoja Hall with their Explosive Food show and James Tate, Head of Physics, delivered the ever-popular Liquid Nitrogen show. Both shows impressed audiences from Reception through to Year 6.

“ Our Year 5 and 6 children particularly enjoyed the STEAM week activities and the science workshops. They came back very animated about the science experiments that they had conducted. It was fabulous for them to have laboratory experience and use equipment that they are not able to access at primary school”
