Boots did not do well in the back of the bakkie on way up to Loch Ness – Winter is approaching

Butch at Loch Ness 4-May-18 – He had the still water secret

Loch Ness Friday 4 th May

We thought we would try a bit of still water fishing so reserved a full day to take a trip up to Loch Ness at Tiffindell , we had all been there before except for Butch and had had good success with San Juan worms & other bloodworms fished statically. Not this time!

It was a mild Autumn day when we stopped, a bit of frost about that melted into a perfect day, only problem was I blanked, Leslie & Shane got 1 or 3 each but Butch determined to put his lack lustre results on the streams behind him set about knocking the rainbows for sixes & sevens eventually totalling a haul of 16. Interesting fact - Butch was using a sinking line when all of us used an intermediate line, I did wait long periods for the line to sink so there must be an obvious difference in the retrieve as we fished alongside of each other using the same fly?
