tracted by other dogs or people she doesn’ t know. I have a few friends who will be hunting with us some of the time and she knows them already. If I hunt pheasants this year, I’ ll likely hunt alone. She needs to learn the program. If she screws up my hunt that’ s one thing, but I don’ t want her to ruin a hunt for someone else. When I’ m satisfied with her hunting prowess, I might bring someone else along.

DOGGY DAYCARE & BOARDING!“ Select & Super Puppy”
English Cocker Spaniel and English Springer Spaniel Puppies Ready!
Dogs need to stay in shape. They need to run or at least take a walk daily; they need to practice retrieves every day if possible.
We always also need to work on obedience training. Although it’ s boring to both you and your dog, the pup will lose their edge if you omit obedience. There’ s nothing worse than a disobedient dog in the decoys. Work on obedience every week to keep your dog in a listening mood. I can tell right away when Kai has been negligent in listening. One beep on the collar helps her memory. Only a few minutes a day will work wonders.
After getting your coats, gun, ammo, decoys and other gear ready we sometimes forget to get our dog gear ready. I’ ve not purchased a vest for Kai yet, but I plan to. I’ ve put together a first aid kit and have a gallon jug for water with her name on it. I’ m not sure yet where she’ s going to sit in the decoys. I hunt fields most of the time and I want her to sit in one spot for her safety and mine.

earlier, I’ ve found these devices to be a blessing. About 90 percent of the time, I only need to use the beeper. She usually responds, but if she doesn’ t listen, I hit the shock button at a low setting. She usually responds. I hate to hurt the pup, but I don’ t think it hurts too bad or too long. It works and occasionally it’ s necessary.
