GET TO KNOW YOUR PDA Board of Trustees
Dr . Abod ’ s personal story
I was born in New York City and then raised in Harvey ’ s Lake , Pa . While I have come home to practice , I feel like I did a significant amount of growing up in Pittsburgh , while attending school there .
I have one fantastic younger brother , Louis Abod . Louis also enjoys the study of dentistry and runs the orthodontic laboratory for all locations of our practice .
I feel very fortunate to have a super supportive family ! I could not live my dreams without my husband , Bryan Bellas and my two children Eulina ( 11 ) and Michael ( 10 ) Bellas . I ’ m so grateful for their unending love and support which I try to return to them each day !
I absolutely love to water ski ; fortunately , I have two fun-loving parents , David and Dora Abod , that let me live my best lake life on those beautiful summer weekends ! Dora , Eulina and I take a crochet class and I ’ m doing my best to learn how to golf . I ’ m also a huge fan of getting lost in a good book relaxing by the pool .
Name some fun / interesting things about yourself that others would be surprised to learn . I have four beautiful dogs that I absolutely adore ; Buster , Chunk , Yogie and Dolly .
I enjoy serving as a board member on an up-and-coming Orthodontic DSO , the Schulman Group .
I have taken a dental mission trip to Guanaja , Honduras with the Mission to the world organization and would love to go on future trips like this with my children once they are older .
I married my high school sweetheart , Bryan Bellas on 08-08-08 .
I have been a certified SCUBA diver for the past 22 years .
Who was your greatest role model ? This is a tough question because I feel everyone I meet affects my life in one way or another . My former partners Dr . Tony Quinn and Dr . John Mariotti have been a very strong and supportive force in my orthodontic life ; they created a respected practice legacy that I am honored to continue . However , those that have always shown me how to have a powerful yet empathetic work ethic , develop logical lines of thinking , and persevere through adversity are my parents David and Dora Abod . My mother immigrated to this country without much , then taught herself the English language and culture to help her family thrive . She and my father created a beautiful life in Pennsylvania and raised two children to know they could achieve anything with hard work and dedication . I could not be where I am now without their guidance , love and support .
What famous person would you most like to spend a day with ? I would love to spend the day , the week , the month with Dolly Parton . Anyone who has strong core values , can live their dream with unending talent , keep her calm while running a multi-million-dollar enterprise ( including a theme park ) is someone I need to know ! Dolly ’ s long and successful career appears atypical , as many hard working , successful people eventually burn out , Dolly appears to evolve and re-invent herself to stay on the forefront of entertainment .
Dr . Abod said , “ I thrive on education and I ’ m grateful to learn something new every day . I would love to strengthen my understanding of large practice dynamics , including DSO groups . We are all dentists with different practice styles . I think it would be a beautiful thing to help standardize certain protocols and procedures to hold PDA dentists to a higher standard that is respected and sought after ; standardization and benefits that set us apart from non-member dentists . If we learn to share great ideas and techniques to benefit all of our practices , we all succeed , and our patients are the ultimate winners !”
