INTRODUCING
PDA ’ s DIVERSITY , EQUITY , INCLUSION Committee
In April 2019 , PDA ’ s Board of Trustees ( BOT ) approved the formation of a Diversity Inclusion Task Force ( DITF ) and requested DITF to give policy suggestions and ideas to support diversity and inclusion within PDA . The objectives of the DITF include offering programs that address cultural competence to increase diversity , providing programs that support career development and increasing inclusion by building community and engagement . Since its inception the DITF has worked to develop :
n PDA ’ s Statement on Diversity and Inclusion n PDA ’ s Definition of Diversity n A statement on racial injustice n A statement opposing Asian Hate
n A customized webinar on microaggression in the dental office
In January 2022 , the BOT recognized the ongoing need to address diversity and inclusion and approved changing the DITF to the Diversity , Equity , Inclusion Committee ( DEIC ). Currently the DEIC is working to develop a webinar for PDA and district and local leaders on cultural competency .
