Thayer Dental Lab Awarded Super Elite status Kornberg School Receives $1.5M grant
Dentsply Sirona Implants, North America, located in Waltham,
Mass., recently awarded Atlantis Super Elite Lab status to
Thayer Dental Laboratory – a distinction that only 29 other
laboratories share. Additionally, this marks Thayer’s 13 th
consecutive year of Super Elite status. Thayer is a full service
laboratory located in Mechanicsburg, and is currently
celebrating its 40 th year serving the dental profession. As an
early adopter in CAD/CAM dentistry, Thayer Dental Laboratory
was one of Atlantis Components’ beta labs – and continues
to beta test new products and techniques for Dentsply
Sirona Implants. Surgeons and restorative dentists have widely
acknowledged Thayer’s implant expertise and its ability
to provide competitive implant pricing with no surprises or
hidden costs. The Health Resources and Services Administration recently awarded
a five-year, $1.5 million grant to expand training in pediatric dental
care to Temple University’s Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry.
The grant will create new and enhanced pediatric and dental
public health curricula for students and in-school and community-
based clinical rotations, and will help provide access to improved
oral health care to about 1,000 more children per year.
The grant aims to equip students with an understanding of social
determinants of health and teach them to apply population health
principles while providing care to underserved children.
The grant will also enhance collaboration between Temple’s
Pediatric Dental Clinic and various community partners to develop
new clinical rotations in which dental students will have ample
opportunity to treat children. Dental students will also rotate with
medical students in primary care training at the Philadelphia
College of Osteopathic Medicine.
