Unilocular Radiolucency of the Anterior Mandible: A Case Report and Clinicopathologic Review
CONCLUSION
Mandibular radiolucencies can mimic each other on radiographs with overlapping and subtle differences in their features. Some of these lesions, with similar radiographic features, are potentially aggressive lesions with high recurrence rates compared to others. Each of the lesions described above have a different potential for recurrence and variation in the treatment of choice. Discrimination of the clinical and radiographic appearance of these lesions is important for timely diagnosis and proper treatment of the patient, minimizing morbidity and risk of recurrence. In order to further elucidate the extent and characterization of the lesions, appropriate prescriptions of advanced imaging modalities, along with a timely incisional biopsy to confirm the absolute diagnosis, is indicated to determine the most appropriate treatment modality.
