PADPAC Annual Session Reception / Karaoke Contest Another Success
PADPAC raised more than $ 2,000 at its Annual Session reception in April . By popular demand , “ PDA Idol ” remained the event ’ s theme and transformed the reception room into an arena of competitive crooning dentists . PDA members showed off their performing skills to compete for the grand prize . Dr . Beth Troy of Bethel Park ( Tenth District ) was crowned this year ’ s PDA Idol after a rendition of Dusty Springfield ’ s classic song “ Son of a Preacher Man .” The event was a tremendous success and the karaoke fundraiser will return next year .
Before the karaoke contest began , Dr . Bernie Dishler presented the Dr . Kay F . Thompson Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award to Rep . Stan Saylor ( R-York ). Rep . Saylor has been supportive of dental issues , and played a critical role in passing HB 532 , the Children ’ s and Special Needs Patients ’ Access to Quality Dental Care Act . Sen . Kim Ward ( R-Westmoreland ) also was a recipient of the award and was honored at Day on the Hill in June . Sen . Ward had introduced the non-covered services bill that passed last year . She also introduced SB 520 , the Assignment of Benefits legislation currently in the Senate .
