The Work Of a Game Warden
For many, a career as a game warden might sound like a dream job. The job goes far beyond the glamour of a uniform or the thrill of patrolling the open landscapes of the state. North Dakota’ s game wardens serve as the front line of conservation law enforcement, on call year-round.

2025 Hunt for Habitat Winners This year the Hunt for Habitat raffle successfully raised $ 272,610 for habitat improvements across South Dakota.
Proceeds are used to develop and improve habitat on public lands across South Dakota. Projects this field season include several tree / shrub plantings on Game Production Areas( GPA), native grass plantings on GPAs, and several projects to enhance riparian areas in the Black Hills including willow plantings and installation of man-made beaver dams to attract beavers and create habitat diversity. These efforts have supported all wildlife populations and areas of the state.
