A Great Start to the School Year at SVRCS!
The 2026 – 2027 school year is officially underway at Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, and our halls are once again filled with the energy, excitement, and enthusiasm that come with a new school year!
Over the past few weeks, our students and staff have settled into their classrooms, established new routines, and started building the foundation for another successful year. It has been wonderful to see our students reconnect with friends, meet new classmates, and jump back into learning.
This year also brings some new faces to the SVRCS family. We are excited to welcome several new teachers and staff members who are already becoming an important part of our school community. We look forward to seeing the experience, ideas, and enthusiasm they bring to our classrooms.
September is always a busy month, as everyone settles into the rhythm of the school year. From academics and activities to athletics and special events, there is plenty happening throughout our school. These early weeks are a great reminder that so much of what makes SVRCS special happens every day; in our classrooms, in our hallways, and through the relationships built between our students and staff.
As we look ahead to the months to come, we are excited for all the opportunities this school year will bring. There will be challenges to overcome, accomplishments to celebrate, and plenty of memories to make along the way.

Meet Our New Band Director!
Our new music teacher, John Saunders, Jr., is excited to join SVRCS and share a lifelong love of music with our students. Originally from New Jersey and a Pennsylvania high school graduate, his passion for music began in seventh grade when he discovered percussion and he ' s been playing ever since!
Over the years, Mr. Saunders has performed in marching bands, jazz bands, a handbells ensemble, and choirs, as well as presented research on music education at state conferences. He is looking forward to bringing that experience into the SVRCS classroom and introducing students to the many ways music can become a meaningful part of their lives.
Outside of school, he enjoys cooking( and once dreamed of becoming a private chef!), gardening, and spending time with his tuxedo cat, Jane.
Says Mr. Saunders,“ I can ' t wait to share the gift of music with every student!”
