The Excellent Adventures of Sky the Chihuahua

The phenomenon of dogs having their own Facebook page is an increasingly popular trend in this digital age. It’ s not uncommon for pet owners to create profiles for their furry companions, complete with photos, funny anecdotes, and updates on their activities. These pages often serve as a way for pet owners to share their lives with friends and family. The internet has become a place where pets, especially dogs, can become celebrities in their own right, with some even amassing large followings of fans who delight in seeing their daily adventures.
According to a recent survey, more than half of pet owners post about their animals on social networks, while 35 percent of dog and cat owners around the world have set up social media accounts for their pets. One in ten pets reportedly have their own profile, and are classified by Facebook as " public figures." Pages dedicated to dogs often attract likes, comments, and shares from a diverse community of pet lovers, often helping build a sense of connection and community online. Whether it ' s a Border Collie showing off its latest trick or a Bulldog sharing a funny caption, the content on these pages often has a viral quality, with certain dogs gaining massive attention from across the globe.
Two pups that have achieved an impressive following among recent canine celebs belong to a high school math teacher in Illinois. Christine began traveling with her tiny Chihuahua, Zen, in the summer of 2018. They both fell in love with hiking and waterfalls when they visited Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. Initially, Christine just posted photos to her personal Facebook page, but with the encouragement of several friends, she eventually created a page for Zen, and they continued their trips for the next five years. Sadly, Zen passed away in 2024, but the adventurous Chihuahua traveled to thousands of waterfalls in 27 states throughout her lifetime and garnered thousands of fans. One of Christine ' s favorite memories so far? The trip to Hyalite Lake in Montana. She says it was a beautiful and challenging hike- 13 miles total, complete with 11 waterfalls. It was a 12 hour endeavor, and Zen hiked the whole way!
Christine was without a companion for a period of time, but she and her followers believe Zen handpicked and sent Sky, her next traveling companion. Another adorable Chihuahua with an a- mazingly expressive face, Sky is continuing Zen ' s legacy of adventure and exploration. She ' s been to 16 states so far, and has turned out to be as natural a hiker as Zen... something people might not ordinarily expect of Chihuahuas!
Christine has good news for all the people that follow her page, " Zen Adventures "... she intends to continue these trips with her intrepid pup every free moment she has. Her future plans include traveling to the west so she can show her girl the amazing Rocky Mountains. Sky ' s fans are so glad Christine shares their experiences with them. Her 41,000 plus followers are already looking forward to those sure to be amazing photos!
