As the summer days begin to wane and we prepare for the transition into fall , I hope each of you had the opportunity to relax , recharge , spend quality time with loved ones , and perhaps even go on vacation . For those with children , the chaos that accompanies the start of a new school year has finally begin to dissipate as the kids settle into their routines . Before you know it , the weather will start to cool and the holidays will be upon us .
In the last few months , our dedicated Directors and volunteers have been hard at work making plans for the upcoming year . I had the opportunity to attend the Voluntary Bar Leaders Annual Conference in Orlando to meet with over 150 bar leaders from around the state . Then , several weeks later , our Bar Association ’ s Board of Directors held its yearly “ retreat ”— which is a workingweekend where we discuss our
Additionally , the leaders of our organization ’ s practice committees have been working tirelessly throughout the summer and many have already held events . For instance , the Law Related Education Committee held a State Attorney and Public Defender Candidate Forum at Wellington Community Center . All of the candidates running for office were invited to the event where they were questioned about their respective platforms and what changes they would make if they were elected . The forum was well-attended , open to the public , and free of charge . It provided an excellent opportunity for members of our community to learn about the candidates and hear their positions on important top-ics related to public safety .
