Popular water for walleyes , pike and perch

Green Lake is a manmade lake located in McIntosh County , ND , 2 miles east , 4 miles south and 1 mile east of Wishek . Green Lake is 994 acres and has just over 16 miles of shoreline . Max depth of the lake is 10.7 feet with an average depth of 6.8 feet .
Like most small lakes in the state , Green Lake has the three most targeted fish -- northern pike , walleye and yellow perch . The lake has quality walleye and yellow perch with a low number of pike .
Paul Bailey is a ND Game & Fish fisheries supervisor for the South Central Fisheries District . There is one ramp on the lake ,

“ The boat ramp , fishing pier , vaulted toilets , picnic and camping areas lie within the Doyle Memorial Park that is managed by the city of Wishek with assistance from the Wishek Wildlife Club ,” Bailey explained .
There are RV electric / water hookup spots available to reserve . Green Lake also has a fish cleaning station , multiple parking areas and shore access on many parts of the lake .

right on the water . VanGorkom and his kids started a little tackle business in their home to get others involved with fishing at the lake .
In the spring , VanGorkom says , he fishes Green Lake four or five times a week , and a couple times during the week the rest of the summer .
“ Fishermen mostly target walleyes , but every once in awhile they ’ ll target perch ,” he said . “ But they ’ re few and far between . Perch are really hit or miss . Some years there are some good perch and the next year the good ones are hard to find .”
