Editor ’ s note : Tony Dean penned this article in Dakota Country in the September , 2007 Special Fall Edition . It highlights the fact that seasons never end in the Dakota , they only change . And in his usual magnetic style , Tony settles in on one of his favorite times of the year on the prairie .
I
I ’ ll be candid with you . September is one of my favorite months . It ’ s not a particularly great fishing month , but it ushers in the hunting season with doves on Sept . 1 , and then a few weeks later , prairie grouse . September is also for Friday night high school football and watching the first full moon of the fall . Days can be warm , even hot , but nights cool down nicely .
