Step 2 Stack , fill and support your cake
Step 3 Cover cake with with ganache . Allow ganache to set
Step 4 Measure the circumference of your cake using a strip of baking paper and a marker . Wrap the paper around the cake and mark on the paper where it meets the end . Then measure to your mark from the start of the paper
Step 5 , 6 & 7 Divide your length into 6 parts- I usually allow larger sections for the painted panels , so alternating 3 equal smaller sections and 3 equal larger ( allow for up to 2cm larger ) sections , marking the sections out on your paper Wrap your paper back around your cake and use a scraper to make small indentations in your ganache to mark out each section ( don ’ t worry , you won ’ t see these once you have applied your lace ) Melt 1 tbsp of cocoa butter nibs in a small dish in a microwave . I microwave for 1 minute 40 seconds , but this will vary depending on your microwave
