Step 1 Have your 2 tier cake covered with black fondant and stacked at least 24 hours in advance so your fondant has had time to firm up .
Step 2 Assemble your tools for decorating .
Step 3 Start with the gold leaf and swirl design . Use the thicker end of your gold edible marker to draw your design . Start at the base of the cakes , working your way up and making sure to leave space for your flowers . We have free handed this design .
Step 4 Using the plastic bag , tie the corners together to make a knot . Turn the bag inside out . Gather the air in the bag and twist to seal and form a big “ bubble ”.
Step 5 Pour some hot pink food colour into the paint palette . Add some white and mix gently till it ’ s the colour you desire . Pro tip : adding the white makes the pink colouring more vibrant on a black cake . You can omit this on a white fondant cake .
