“ One of the largest challenges that Saint Philomena School of the Sacred Heart faced as a result of the pandemic was prioritizing safe , in-person learning during a time when the best guiding science and information was constantly evolving alongside the immediate need to take action to ensure a successful school year . We were also faced with how best to manage the emotional health of faculty , staff , parents and students who all had differing needs and fears . Our school was challenged to find the resources , both human and financial , to not only open school but remain open for the 2021 – 22 school year . Providence Country Day School : Mask wearing and physical distancing were hallmarks of the school year for any in-person classes in Rhode Island this year ( including ceramics class !)
“ The biggest challenge was continuing to educate both effectively and safely . We strongly felt that in-person learning was most effective , so in preparation for last school year , Providence Country Day created outdoor classrooms , added air filters to indoor spaces and put together safety protocols to meet and exceed the recommendations by public health experts . In the winter and spring , we coordinated campus-wide testing following school vacations and we also completed testing for our student athletes throughout their seasons . Due to these efforts , we were able to learn in-person for most of the school year . Credit goes to our
