HERE FOR THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO CONTRACTED COVID-19 . AND FOR THE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO DIDN ’ T .

March 2 , 2020 . The day Southcoast Health saw the first case of the coronavirus . The day everything changed .
From that moment on , all 7,500 employees of Southcoast Health were engaged in battling this deadly disease . Marshalling resources for testing , care , and more recently , vaccinating people throughout the entire region .
Personal protective equipment became extremely scarce , yet keeping our employees and patients safe was critically important . And the community responded overwhelmingly . Local residents , businesses , elected officials , and community partners stepped up to support our workers during the exhausting , and exhaustive , fight . They donated tens of thousands of
Just as inspiring were those that offered their support in other ways . A Southcoast Health nurse said , “ When the community came together with kind words , letters , and overall recognition of how much we ’ ve sacrificed to care for others , it was incredibly uplifting .”
In addition to treating those with the virus , our clinicians never stopped providing the routine and advanced care people needed . That is why in 2021 , just as in 2019 and 2020 , Southcoast Health was designated a Newsweek World ’ s Best Hospital . Just 334 hospitals in the United States have earned a spot on 2021 ’ s World ’ s Best list .
Looking ahead , we are optimistic and hopeful . This year , commemorating our 25 th year as Southcoast Health , we will emerge from this crisis stronger . Because
