Recent Brown graduate and freelance journalist Lucas Fried says a certain gray house on the East Side always sparked his curiosity . “ Why would the resident be blasting music all weekend from an upstairs window ? Was it a home gym ? A day-long rave ? The thing I love about writing profiles is that you get to snoop into people ’ s lives and answer those mysteries .” What he learned is recounted in “ Radio Head ,” an intriguing introduction to TV meteorologist R . J . Heim ’ s other life as an online deejay .
Photographing the nurses for this month ’ s cover issue [“ Excellence in Nursing Awards ”] was a real pleasure , says Alex Gagne . “ This past year has shown us how important nurses and frontline workers are to our society ,” he says , “ so I was happy to photograph these talented medical professionals and hear about their journeys in the medical field .”
In the years to come , much time will be devoted to surveying the effects the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our children , photographer Dana Smith points out . “ I hope that when we see the full picture , we will not find ourselves looking back ever-mournfully at all they were denied or what they inevitably lost but rather beaming with pride at how they were able to cope , adjust and find ways to thrive throughout such a challenging time ,” he says . “ My faith is on the latter .” �
