LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
The summer heat and weather are still upon us , but we are pressing through the conditions to better the golf course . The maintenance staff is growing and becoming more stable by the day . A couple of great additions have gotten us very close to where we want to be heading into the golf busy season .
We have focused on a few key elements this past month that the membership had expressed concerns with .
First , ball roll on greens . We have begun a schedule for rolling and smoothing the greens on a twice a week rolling schedule . This in conjunction with our core aerification will set us up for good greens speed and roll in the coming months . The aerification was a key process in this . We left some holes empty for a few days to allow the greens to breath and to wash all the fine elemental soil particles through the soil profile . This is important for the health of the plant by allowing the salts and heavy metals to leech away while making room for the important soil minerals and microorganisms that ensure a healthy soil profile .
Second , we are working on getting all the plant beds sprayed and cleaned out for a better appearance throughout the golf course . The details on the course and at the clubhouse are one of my top goals here at Eaglebrooke . First impressions stick with people and I want our property to leave a great one . We are also on an aggressive spray program on the golf course to eliminate various turf weeds on the playing surfaces . This is a multiple application process that seems never ending but is very necessary in building a high-end golf club experience .
The practice facility has begun an exciting upgrade with a new driving range tee . This will help greatly for a nice even hitting surface for everyone to work on and improve their game . Our cart paths are also getting some problem areas addressed by replacing broken and uneven sections for a smoother ride .
