VISITING SAFE – THE GROVE The Grove Interpretative Center will open to the public starting August 11, with a number of provisions to protect the safety of our customers, employees and our community. We believe the Glenview Park District’s museums can open safely with adequate physical distancing while providing individuals with an opportunity to appreciate nature and history and to promote mental well-being. Safety is our number one priority and we have a plan in place allowing patrons to visit with as little contact as possible while adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity. (Last Updated July 27, 2020) HOW THE EXPERIENCE IS CHANGED Visitor Limitations The Grove Interpretative Center will be limited to 25% occupancy. Visitors will only have access to the main exhibit hall, science classroom, restrooms and gift shop. While the animal displays and other exhibits are available for viewing, no hands-on contact will be permitted. In other words, visitors cannot touch the animals or artifacts. Trash and recycling containers will be limited, so please plan to take your trash with you. Arrival Access to the center will be through the front entrance. Patrons may arrive at any time during the posted public hours and will be asked to sign in and out of the building each time they enter. If the building reaches 25% capacity, patrons will be asked to wait outside at safe intervals. Operations The Interpretative Center will be open to the public 10 am to 3 pm Tuesday through Sunday. The building will remain closed on Mondays. The Grove grounds and trail system remains open from dawn to dusk every day. We require patrons to follow physical distancing guidelines and wear masks when distancing is not possible. The restrooms at the Redfield Carriage House are open to the public from 9 am-4 pm daily. Historic Kennicott House – Open August 29 We will be offering guided tours of the Kennicott House and other historic structures on weekends only beginning August 29. Advance registration is required at the Interpretative Center desk. Specific tour dates and times will be posted at the Interpretative Center front desk and online.
