SPEEDWAY 51
A significant change is coming
to the Speedway 51 Sign Depot
Tiger division on Saturday, Sept.
3. This is a change that track
owner, Joey Laquerre, feels will
make this division much more
appealing to drivers throughout
the Northeast. It is no secret that
the Tiger class has been struggling at Speedway 51, Thunder
Road and WMMP. White Mountain made a bold change by combining the Tigers and the Strictly
Stocks, and now have a solid
twenty cars or more on a regular
basis. The Speedway 51 mentor
has come up with a plan to make
his Tigers hopefully grow in
numbers as well, and the idea
seems to be well liked by all
those whom have been informed
about the big change.
“The cost of racing a Tiger has
become extremely expensive in
these last few years,” stated
Laquerre. “This problem has
sidelined so many teams. Our
plan will cut the cost of racing
one of these cars dramatically.
Starting on Saturday, September
3rd, the Tigers will be racing on
used American Racer Late Model
tires. The best thing about this
idea is that drivers will be able
to get these used tires absolutely
free! We will have used take-offs
in stock, and teams can also get
them from any source they want,
including any ACT Tour, Thunder Road team, or from racers at
other tracks that use the same
brand and compounds. Several
teams tested these tires last
weekend and were ecstatic about
the speed and stability of these
tires. Several teams were running laps close to fourteen seconds,
and

adjustments, we are expecting
times from the low 14s to mid to
high 13s, and this is getting the
