VICKI STOHL
Wilmington,
N.C.—Vicki
Stohl, a teacher at Hoggard High
School, died on Friday, Aug. 26,
2016, at the Lower Cape Fear
Hospice in Wilmington, N.C.,
after battling melanoma for
several years.
Vicki started with New
Hanover County Schools in
August 2011 as a math teacher.
Before that she worked in the
Fairfax County School Systems
in northern Virginia and also for
the National Science Foundation
in Washington, DC. She
graduated from Northeastern
University in Boston, Mass., in
1994 and from Groveton High
School in 1989.
Her fight began in 2012 when
a mole on her left shoulder blade
was determined to be melanoma.
The cancer was removed, and
doctors determined it had not
spread. Two years later,
however, back pain led to a lifechanging diagnosis—Vicki had
eight tumors in her chest and
abdominal area. Her melanoma
had returned.
A support page was created
after the Nov. 10, 2014 diagnosis
and it chronicled her fight,
keeping friends informed of her
progress. In December 2015,
Vicki was diagnosed with breast
cancer, which had spread to
other parts of her body.
Vicki is survived by her
husband, Kristofer Erickson,
and their two children, Korin,
age 12, and Riley, age 9, her
mother Kristina Bishop and her
husband, Jerry, her brother
Judd Stohl and his wife Anne
and their two daughters,
Madelene and Camden, and her
grandfather, Burnham Judd of
Pittsburg.
Vicki
was
predeceased by her father, Bruce
Wayne Stohl, her grandmothers,
Madelene Judd and Dorothy
Anderson, and her grandfather,
Andy Anderson.
A service will be held at Port
City Community Church in
Wilmington, N.C., on Saturday,
Sept. 10, at 3 p.m.
