Social Media Strategy When You Accept or Launch a New Gig, Start-up or Spin-Off and selected what would become part of our marketing outreach. W e just stood up a brand new company, Enable Women! Our newly incorporated company is international and works with an entire new team of leaders and officers for our company. We are not only a for-profit entity but also have a not-for-profit entity that will help combat homelessness for women and their families. We are very excited about our new enterprise and looking forward to helping women and men around world have access to easy-to-use and affordable technology and apps. Through a onestop digital platform anyone will be able to use mobility or traditional business structure to manage business in the office or on the go. We believe that our approach will help entrepreneurial women, even those in remote places, start and grow a business. Additionally, we believe we can help women find their voice and create a global movement towards a fair and equal place for women and men to launch and grow their own businesses. We found it very interesting as we worked together on our formation asking when, where, why and how we would be including so many social media platforms and resources. At Success in the City we grew into the social media platforms we use today. As new social media technology, apps and resources emerged we tested, evaluated Starting with a brand new business our team debated, shared and challenged what the musthave social media platforms would be imperative for our new business and non-profit. Keep in mind, we are an international company, dispersed throughout the US and Australia. We not only operate from different time zones but our cultural views and opinions can be quite varied. Our team decided that our must use social media tools would be Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Google+. There are many, many wonderful social media resources but that is where we put our stake in the ground for our social media communications. From the perspective of when we launched Success in the City in 2006 the world of social media has made many changes and incredible strides. We launched our new business with virtually no social media followers, yet enjoy thousands of followers on other platforms each of use. So what do you do? Here are a few of our strategies that may be useful to you the next time you start a new endeavor or spin-off a new business from where you are now. Because I am considered the Google+ expert on our team I am managing our new Enable Women page. One thing I am happy to see that Google+ has brought back with the recent changes from their original launch is the ability to update the About page. This to me is one of the most important page for you to stand-out on Google+. Even if you do not plan on using Google+ as part of your social media strategy, set up an about page and fill in as much information as you can. Strictly Marketing Magazine September/October 2016 5
