Co-chairs Robin Gowdy and Kathy Fisher are planning a seated lunch catered by It ’ s Party Time . Chico ’ s fashions will be modeled by members Mary Tillery , Carol McHugh , Claudia de Vries , Leesa Gango , Janie Olson and Debbie Stonebraker .
Be sure to sign up early as this event usually sells out . The cost for members is $ 40 and $ 45 for non-members . The deadline to RSVP is noon Thursday Sept . 7 .
The sign-up books to RSVP and the 2023-24 membership applications are in our books on the Activity Center coat room counter . Membership costs $ 30 per year . You can put your checks in an envelope marked CWA in the CCC slot in the entry door of the Activity Center or give it to Claudia at the front desk . Membership applications are also available on our website at CWACharboneau . com .
On a beautiful July evening CWA hosted a well-attended Happy Hour in the Pavilion . With food and wine planned by Lindy Anderson and the board , women enjoyed a wonderful evening of fellowship .
Our program co-chairs Judi Hickman and Mary Elting have been busy planning our programs for the year .
On Oct . 9 , our program will be
Safety Awareness . This program is near and dear to my heart with our home invasion this summer . Whether you will be home or traveling over the winter months our speakers will discuss easy ways to keep you , your family and your home safe . You will meet and hear from Jim Teague , Neal Kennedy , our new Charbonneau security manager , and an introduction to our new Corporate Crime Patrol .
Are you ready for a stress-free holiday season ? On Nov . 13 , we will meet Annette Mulligan as she shares ways to set goals and get organized as the busy season approaches .
And , of course , Dec . 11 will include our wonderful holiday event that you will not want to miss .
This month I would like to feature two of our new board members . Judi Hickman is our new co-chair for programs . She and her husband Pat moved to Charbonneau in July 2016 , though their first date in February 1980 was when Judi was living with her best friend at what was called Arbor Lake Apartments . They have been happily married for 41 years .
Judi is a busy lady , She is also co-chair of our December Holiday event , is involved with the Charbonneau Food Bank Collection , works on the Charbonneau Country Club Communications Committee and co-chairs the communications position on the newly formed CCE homeowners committee .
She loves traveling , puzzling , cooking and spending as much time as possible with their grandchildren !
Doreen Yates has joined the board as our Sunshine chair . Doreen moved to Charbonneau in Aug . 2021 from Auburn , CA . She decided to downsize from an acre of land to a townhouse and move closer to her two children . She retired in 2011 as a CPA with her own practice for many years in Walnut Creek , CA . She enjoys walking with the Wilsonville Walkers , book club , garden club , CWA and Solo Sisters . She has also learned to play Mah Jongg . When not doing any of those activities she enjoys camping in her motorhome .
There ’ s no vacation for people in need
Consider donating to the Wilsonville Food Bank
By JEAN BRAULT Charbonneau Country Club
Schools are about to open and summer vacations are now in our memory banks . For some in our Wilsonville community , however , there were no vacations and school openings represent additional expenses that are difficult to cover . Your continuing support of Wilsonville Community Sharing , our local food bank , is pivotal to those being assisted .
In the first seven months of this year , Charbonneau residents donated 2,971 pounds of canned , paper and hygiene items and $ 3,450 in cash and gift cards . Some 125 residents have participated in this effort , many becoming frequent donors . In addition , the
SpringRidge community joined this effort in July through our “ pick-up ” program , donating over 20 pounds of canned goods . This “ pick-up ” service is a new initiative , which is especially beneficial to those residents who want to donate but with limited mobility , limited access to wheels or other circumstances . If you are interested in this service , please email Dave Olson at daveloson613 @ gmail . com .
For this month the items most in need are soups , cereal , size 5 , 6 and 7 children ’ s diapers and baked beans or similar . As always , however , any contribution in-kind or funds is greatly appreciated and “ one can or item ” times each and every one of us in Charbonneau makes a big difference .
The drop-off and “ pick-up ” dates will be Wednesday , Sept . 27 from 8:30 a . m . to 1 p . m . at our usual place in the Charbonneau Country Club Activity Center . Thank you for your continuing support .
