New patio cover is complete

Last February , during a storm with very high winds , the Charbonneau Golf Club experienced severe damage to a tent structure that provided cover over the patio outside of the pro
BRAY shop , making the tent no
longer usable . The tent had proved quite popular with both golf course and Market Café customers , providing additional covered space from the elements . The tent was never designed to withstand high winds and was thought of as an inexpensive way of providing additional shelter . In addition , aesthetically , the tent did not fit in with the surrounding buildings , so we began to look for alternatives . Jim Toma , a Charbonneau resident and avid golfer at CGC , did some investigation on his own and found a company in Pennsylvania called American Landscape Structures ( ALS ). They produce pavilions , pergolas and gazebos in kit form and had a couple of options for a 40 ’ x 20 ” patio cover . After getting details and some preliminary pricing , Jim passed the information onto the CGC board and general manager , Chris Bensel . The pavilion kit met our requirements for appearance , structural integrity and cost . Chris finalized the design specifications with ALS , got firm pricing for the structure and presented to the board for approval in March .
In addition , we needed to get the patio cover kit installed and sought bids from some area contractors . We eventually awarded the contract to Hassle Free Renovations , a contractor that had done some small projects for the golf club as well as remodeling work in the Charbonneau community . Due to permit requirements from the city of Wilsonville , the project work was delayed until July , coinciding with the exterior remodel of the Charbonneau Event Center and CGC pro shop / Market Café .

The area outside of the pro shop became quite a busy location . Travis Harp and his crew at Hassle Free were able to complete the installation of the patio cover in the two-week time frame as promised . The completion and city of Wilsonville approval of the structure took place on Aug . 2 , making it available for the twoday Charbonneau Men ’ s Club invitational golf tournament ( Aug . 3-4 ), a Ferguson Plumbing golf tournament on Aug . 5 and a Parr Lumber golf tournament on Aug . 6 .
The new patio cover is made out of grade 1 pressure treated lumber and is capable of

withstanding winds in excess of 110 mph . While it will be open on all sides during the warmer months , we intend to add some side curtains during the winter months . The patio pavilion adds up to 40 covered seats comfortably , increasing our customer capacity for the Market Café . The design and appearance of this patio cover will fit nicely with the exterior remodel of the Event Center and pro shop and is just another way that the Charbonneau Golf Club continues to invest and upgrade itself for our customers and the community .
