Metallic colours always convey ideas of luxury , of luxurious bygone eras where gilding almost any detail was a symbol of elegance and class . This tutorial is a modern design with geometrical elements , almost architectural in their look . The rough finish of the royal icing and the smoothness of the fondant underneath combines to give depth and difference between this modern arrangement of tiers . It ’ s airbrushed in different metallic colours from gold to dark bronze , and finished with a climbing line of Catleya orchids in contrasting white .
