BOLD Mover Profile

Sherri Logan Williams

We have never met face to face but her tantalizing food pictures have me salivating on a daily basis. I became aware of her as I watched Good Morning America on ABC in Central Florida early one morning. She drew my attention because she was from my state and was a recipe contestant on the show. I immediately claimed her as my kinswoman and then later discovered that she was the Mom of someone I was acquainted with from our local acting community. You can only imagine my joy and surprise when she won the contest!!

Carol: Have you always wanted to be a chef?

Sherri: I don’t consider myself a chef; I’m a die-hard home cook whose love and passion is cooking. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always loved to cook. I cooked my first meal for my family when I was 12. The rest is history.

Carol: When did you know that you wanted to share your gift for cooking?

Sherri: Surprisingly, my son Roy Jr. is the one who convinced me to share my cooking with the world. His father, my husband Roy’s encouragement and support set me on my path at the age of 48. My husband Roy, to whom I have been married to for 32 years, my Mom, sisters, and brothers had been telling me this as well for ages, but I guess I wasn’t ready. I’m blessed to have the world’s best support system. Family is everything. I finally said to myself, “Self, your time is now. I’m definitely what you would call a late bloomer!”

Carol: Did you receive formal training?

Sherri: I have no formal training. I’m self-taught. I’ve never been one to read cookbooks. I’m a visual person so I love to look at photos in cooking magazines and cookbooks. I must confess that I’m addicted to looking at cooking shows.

Carol: Who has been your greatest inspiration?

cookbooks. I’m a visual person so I love to look at photos in cooking magazines and cookbooks. I must confess that I’m addicted to looking at cooking shows.

Carol: Who has been your greatest inspiration?

Sherri: My greatest inspiration is Grandma Sally Ann Logan. Though she is no longer here with us, her spirit is one of my driving forces. She had a very small kitchen, but what she created in that kitchen was pure MAGIC! She has been and will always be the best cook I’ve ever known.

Carol: What would you say to the person desiring a career as a chef?

Sherri: I would say go for it. If you breathe it, live it, smell it, see it, feel it, love it and it makes you happy…go take what’s yours and be the best you can be. The universe is yours, OWN IT!

Carol: What have you learned or discovered that you wish you had known earlier?

Sherri: I’ve discovered that if I had acted on this earlier in my life, I may not have been ready for the blessings that I’m receiving right now. God makes no mistakes, it wasn’t my time earlier and I wasn’t ready for the blessings I’m receiving now. Never give up on your dreams and what makes you truly happy.

Carol: What are your dreams for the future?

Sherri: I want to continue to inspire others to cook, share recipes, enter more cooking contests and competitive cooking TV shows, maybe a cookbook or two and possibly have my own cooking show. What’s most important is to continue to enjoy each and every day cooking like nobody’s business.

Carol: Could you share your social media links so our readers may continue to follow your journey?
