TAKE A TIME OUT
Don’ t forget about the guests who might need a break from the noise and action.“ Set up a drinks bar in a separate area or quiet room for those people to chill and relax,” suggests professional party planner Allison Barrett.

experience.“ You may want to invest in some large plastic tubs to set up drinks or use a few large eskies,” Allison says.“ Buying ice for the drinks is a must, add a bottle opener for beers, and slice up limes and lemons.”
Be sure to grab the practical things no party can do without.“ Don’ t forget large garbage bags and disposable cups, plates and serviettes, so you don’ t have to worry about washing up and can enjoy the game,” says Allison.“ And plastic wrap for leftovers!”
To create a fun atmosphere, add simple decorations to your list.“ Consider balloons in the teams’ colours and little novelty footballs to throw around [ at half time ],” she adds.
Sorting out seating
If you’ re using an outdoor area, it’ s a good idea to organise seating.“ Set up big cushions so people can lie [ or sit ] on the ground to watch,” says Allison. And you might need extra equipment, says Queensland-based tech and lifestyle expert Elly Awesome( youtube. com / ellyawesome).“ I’ d highly recommend picking up a smart projector, solar festoon lights, and comfy, fold-out chairs or picnic blankets,” she says.
Smooth operation
The main reason your guests are there is to watch the game, so, as Elly says, good visual and audio equipment is nonnegotiable.“ I highly recommend securing a 4K TV, but even better if you can get
an OLED TV,” she says.“ That will be the best-in-class for any watching experience. This is partly because each pixel can turn off completely, meaning the blacks are true black and you won’ t get any haziness or light bleed. The ability for OLED to replicate colours accurately and at a high vibrancy is next level. It will re-create all the action in the best detail.”
Pair this with good audio to heighten the viewing vibe.“ For sound, it’ s always great to grab a soundbar,” says Elly.“ It can be useful to buy the same brand as your TV so they pair quickly and work seamlessly. Adding a subwoofer to your set-up is a great way to make an impact.”
Tech success
It’ s important to avoid any technical issues on the day, says Elly.“ If you stream TV channels from the internet or streaming apps, make sure no one’ s downloading big files, games or doing software updates on devices in the house.”
But the pre-game tech checks shouldn’ t stop there.“ Check your internet connection to ensure you have clear and consistent visuals, check for software updates on your streaming apps or TV and ensure they’ re up to date,” she continues.“ Alternatively, turn off automatic software updates so they can’ t happen during a game, which could put a strain on your internet connection.”

the game is at its peak.“ Keep another device handy, like a laptop, with the game stream ready to go and have your mobile phone’ s data switched on as your back-up internet source,” says Elly.“ You can also have a radio nearby tuned into the game.”
Now, all you need to do is hope your team wins on the day.
