Tame hightraffic zones
Clutter tends to build up in rooms the whole family uses on a daily basis, such as the kitchen and bathroom. To tackle shelves in these rooms, identify what you actually use every day and find a new home for everything else. So if you’ re a bulk buyer( hello, toilet paper tower!), Lauren suggests storing what you use regularly within easy reach, and tucking the extras away in the laundry or garage.“ High-traffic shelves are prime real estate, and if something wants to live there, it needs to be a big earner!” she says.
The trick to keeping things looking neat is making sure anything that is visible has a designated home.“ Using containers to group‘ like’ items together will always keep high-traffic areas more organised,” Amy points out.
Clear containers are Amy ' s preference for fridge and pantry organising.“ You can quickly see what is inside, easily put things away, and even write your shopping list at a glance based on which containers are empty,” she says.

Reclaim forgotten spaces
Places like the garage and linen closet tend to be‘ out of sight, out of mind’ areas.“ They’ re usually the first to get chaotic and the last to get our attention,” Lauren says.“ My advice? Get clear on what actually belongs there, and give each type of item a proper home.”
She suggests investing in some big tubs, especially if you have shelves to stack them on.“ Labels are a must,” she adds.“ I prefer opaque tubs with lids and super-specific labels over clear tubs – it looks neater, which makes me more likely to keep it tidy.” And don’ t forget about all that valuable vertical space.“ Shelf risers, stackable tubs and wall hooks get stuff up and off the floor,” she adds.
When everything has a designated home, says Amy, maintaining order becomes easier.“ Instead of something just going back somewhere in the garage, you know it belongs in the gardening container,” she explains.“ Or instead of putting all the sheets on one shelf, the single bed sheets belong in a particular container.”
