Optimizing images
It is tempting to use large, high-quality images for a web page. Most websites, however,
greatly benefit from optimizing those images to improve site performance for all users.
A common way to optimize images for websites is compressing and resizing those
images without reducing their overall quality. By doing this task, the images on the
website will remain as good looking as they were in full size, but it significantly
reduces any performance hits that users may encounter on a mobile device or desktop
computer. The addition of alt tags (underlying image description) to images also helps
bolster site visibility to search engines.
